So here we are, almost a month into 2013! I think we’ll just skirt past Christmas 2012, as most of it was spent moving out of the flat – not the happiest of experiences. So far this year I’ve driven the bug more than I have for months – mainly thanks to the DVLA hitting me for a £50 fine! I had absolutely no idea the law had changed and that you now have to SORN now also applies to insurance as well as road tax. Ooops! Anyway, both VWs are now fully legal – and there are some stationery and sticker additions!

Clarence managed to pass his MOT at the second attempt thanks to fresh ball joints all round, plus a few other bits and pieces. Most of the work that was done was identified by John as needing doing when I originally bought the bus so there were no huge surprises there. It just cost a little more than I was anticipating – as usual!

I’m not sure he’s loving living outside now that he’s not tucked up in the nice dry underground car park we had at the flat (new cab door seals are on the shopping list!), but I’m afraid he’s just going to have to deal with it until I move into the new place. Whether of course this move will actually happen is now anyone’s guess as Virgin Media have decided to make me redundant. There’s every chance that a new role will come my way, but it’s all very up in the air at the moment. Which is a shame as all this happened the day after mine and Clarence’s first anniversary, earlier this week. Driving him home across the M62 in driving snow this time last year seems like a distant memory.

Back to the good stuff – Clarence now has 2 new keys after I somehow managed to bend the original 2 keys I had. Accidents happen! And Betty has some new stickers in one of her windows, with more to come. I didn’t quite manage to get some of the dimensions right, so some of them came out quite a bit bigger than I had intended……. I seem to have gone a bit nuts at Vistaprint thanks to their silly offers where they give away stuff for free, to the point where I even got some VW branded Post It notes and biro to match! Not only that, but they’re both now very clean after having had a good wash at the weekend. Wish someone would pamper me the same way as those two get looked after!!

Oh, and keep your fingers crossed for some decent weather – have got my first weekend away in the bus booked for the end of March!
